Academic Responsibility
The educational process is a shared responsibility. My responsibility is to provide you the space and opportunities to learn and grow. It also means that you, as a student, must take ownership of your learning. How? You are expected to read, study, and complete homework assignments and projects, contribute to the collective learning environment, and put for effort to the best of your ability.
Classroom Rules
1. Move seamlessly into, during, and after class.
3. Be prepared for class with the same materials daily:
Presentations and Projects
Students will complete several projects and presentations during the year. Students are expected to complete projects and presentations in the time allotted during class and in some cases outside of class. Please support your student in the project work and even join in to assist.
Couse Grades % of Overall Grade
Classwork/Homework/Participation - 40%
Group/Individual Projects/Tests/Quizzes- 60%
Assignments/Homework
Online assignments, online discussions, and quizzes will have solid due dates/times.
Make-Up Work
Our classroom environment will focus on group and paired activities/projects throughout the year, so it is important that the students attend school and bring their iPads on a daily basis. In the event that a day must be missed, it will be the responsibility of the student to collaborate with their group members to find out their assignment for the group learning activities.
Make up assignments will be available for students in the event of an absence. It is the responsibility of the student to ask for the make-up work. I also email assignments to parents upon request. Students may also access my lesson plans and their class notes on iTunes University at any time to keep up with their work.
Assessments
We will have formative and informal assessments. Informal assessments consist of simple and/or complex questions during class discussions/work to assess understanding, comprehension, and whether you are being attentive. Assessments include quizzes, tests, a research paper, essays and assignments with an assigned rubric. We will also complete several group projects throughout the year.
Class Cleanliness
We have to keep our environment clean. Please monitor your own area and place trash in the appropriate receptacle.
Plagiarism and Cheating
Plagiarism and Cheating (copying answers) are not permitted in our academic environment. These actions are unacceptable and if committed, the student will be referred to the office.
